The longest and most important relationship of your life is with yourself.

We know we should, but a lifetime’s worth of negativity can feel like an insurmountable obstacle.

Years ago, when I was at the lowest, rock-bottom point in my life, I realized that I couldn’t go on living if I didn’t find a way to love myself. But I didn’t even know where to start...

So rather than trying to change the way I felt, I took some small steps that made a big difference.

Loving yourself doesn’t require some mountain-top moment of ecstasy. All you need to do is start treating yourself right - the way you deserve to be treated!

Here’s an easy suggestion: buy yourself something you appreciate.

Do you love flowers? Then buy yourself a beautiful bouquet.

Prefer chocolates? Then treat yourself to some tonight!

And if you’re serious about loving yourself (and you should be!), don’t ever give up on yourself.

You may be afraid that health, vitality, mobility, strength, and confidence are out of reach. But if you give up on yourself, it will be the most unloving thing you ever do.

Instead, make this a moment of real love.

I know that you have the courage inside you to be the champion of your own life. And just like you wouldn’t give up on your best friend, don’t let yourself down, either.

Make right now the moment when you take a step towards loving yourself. If you don’t know exactly what to do, I have a suggestion.

My Body Groove dance workouts are all about making yourself feel good through movement.

The point of these workouts isn’t just to get stronger or more flexible (although you will), and it’s also not about losing weight (although I think we should celebrate that some women are losing over 100 pounds by combining Body Groove with healthy eating).
