When I started teaching fitness classes over 20 years ago…they were very much “follow-the-leader” type classes. I would do a move, and then everyone would try and copy me. This is great for some people, but terrible for others. What I discovered over the years is that everyone likes to move a little differently. Now, when I teach…I embrace this fact. And doing this has made all the difference. Check out this video and look how we all start out the same…but as the music progresses, we start to move a little differently. It’s really cool.
Body Groove allows you to experience the freedom of your individual way of moving…whatever that means to you. So go ahead and move your way! It’ll make all the difference.

The secret to looking and feeling healthy

If you’ve ever watched a weight loss or fitness infomercial, then you’ve seen all the tricks… You’re either led to believe that with little to no effort, that you can get the body of your dreams. Or, on the other hand, you’re told that unless you workout to absolute exhaustion, that you’ll never get the results you crave. Sadly, neither option is a good one. Allow me to give you a few alternative ideas that have helped me – as well as thousands of other Groovers all around the world – to look and feel healthy…
  • Be confident in your body and how it moves…no matter what size or shape you are.
  • Be kind to yourself…it’s YOUR job and responsibility.
  • Exercise shouldn’t be painful or hard…find a way to move your body in a pain free, enjoyable way.
  • And above all….
Remember that no one will do it for you! Yet it can be easy. I have the secret…be YOURSELF!

Have you ever wanted to be really thin?

Have you ever wanted to be really thin? I have, but to be honest, it was for the wrong reason. You see, I believed that being thin meant being beautiful. In fact, there was a time when I was so desparate to look a certain way, and to gain approval from others – that I actually developed an eating disorder – bulimia. I probably don’t have to tell you how unhealthy and dangerous this is. I don’t want that for you. You deserve better! The truth is…being thin has nothing to do with being beautiful. The “perfect” body you see on magazine covers isn’t real. It’s been photoshopped six ways from Sunday and it’s totally fake! Don’t believe the lie that you need to be ‘model-skinny’ to be beautiful. It’s just not true. We come in all different shapes and sizes…we’re all dealing with different life circumstances…and we’re all just different. And that’s something we need to celebrate!
I want you to love yourself for who you are, because…you are beautiful! And don’t let anyone – the media, the people you surround yourself with, and especially yourself – tell you any different.

Are you exercising the wrong way?

Do you ever feel like you’re exercising the wrong way?
Before I created Body Groove, I was a fitness instructor at an elite gym in Los Angeles…. and sadly, I was exercising the wrong way.

You see, I had fallen for one of the biggest workout lies ever told… that in order for exercise to work, it had to be painful.

With this mindset every workout turned into a fight – I was punching, kicking, and jumping as hard as I could…thinking that would help me get thin and healthy.

But I ended up broken down, stressed out, and sometimes barely able to move.

I was making the same mistake that so many others make when trying to lose weight or get stronger: I was confusing pain with progress.

That’s not how your body works!

Yes – it’s important to move your body… but it should never be at the expense of your mental or physical well-being.

Plus, because we’re all individuals, our bodies move differently.

And that’s why Body Groove Works…

In my routines I give you the basic choreography, but you make each movement your own by adding exactly the style that you want – whatever feels right to you.

Just look at the picture below that’s taken from one of my routines… Everyone’s doing it a little differently… and I love it!

Remember, Body Groove is about being yourself, moving the way your body wants to move, and loving yourself for who you are. 
When I embraced this way of thinking it allowed me to heal my body and get healthy. More importantly, I’m happier than I’ve ever been.
